FALSE PRETENCES CHARGE
MAN SENT TO GAOL FOR THBEE YEARS
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 3. For obtaining £225 by false pretences, .William John Mcßae, 49, was today sent to prison for three years with hard labour by Mr Justice Finlay, who warned him that if he appeared again he would be declared an habitual criminal.
Robert Emmet Burrowes, 48, who was found guilty of aiding and abetting Mcßae in the false pretences, was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment with hard labour. His Honour said the crime was planned, cruel and callous.
