ACTION AGAINST “LA PRENSA”

(Rec. 7 p.m.) BUENOS AIRES, April«Js. The Radical Party, Argentina’s chief Opposition group, has protested against the Government’s expropriation of the independent newspaper “La Prensa,” as approved by Congress. The party’s statement said that the party had disagreed at times with "La Prensa,” on doctrinary issues, but it recognised the independent newspaper as a worthy expression of American culture which honoured Argentina’s name by attaining the highest ranks among the world’s newspapers. The newspaper “Democracia,” the chief Peronist newspaper, stated that the penalty against “La Prensa” would never be lifted because it had always opposed the Argentine people.
