BROADCASTING OF RACK RESULTS

Sir,—The broadcasting of every race result is inviting our young people to make a welter of gambling, the result of which is that it is going to ruin thousands of our young men. break up their homes, and iiycrease theft, Violence and murder. No one would object to a local broadcast of a local race meeting, which is once or twice a year; but no young man who has a home, wife and children to provide for can afford to gamble his Income away every week. We older ones, whether gamblers or not, should see that in the circumstances this evil temptation should not be put before our young people, knowing it is a very risky business with the odds heavily against then;.—Yours, etc., J.H. April 10. 1951.
