RUGBY LEAGUE
N.Z. TEAM TO TOUR ENGLAND CANTERBURY NOMINATES MANAGERS Messrs W. E. Desmond (Canterbury) and J. A. Redwood (Auckland) have been nominated by the Canterbury Rugby Football League as managers of the New Zealand League touring team to visit England and France during the 1951 season. This was decided at a recent meeting of the Canterbury League’s management committee. Mr H. A. King, chairman of the management committee, was appointed direct delegate to the annual general meeting of the New Zealand League Council. Mr G. E. Falgar was nominated as a life member of the New Zealand League. LINWOOD CLUB The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Linwood Rugby League Club:—patron, Mr J. B. Chick: president, Mr H. B. Rogers; vice-presi-dents, 25 elected; trustees, Messrs W. E Desmond and B. C. Rogers; secretary, Mr G. N. Nuttall; treasurer, Mr T. J. Sullivan; club captain and custodian, Mr M. S. James; deputy club-captain, Mr R. Woods; executive committee, Messrs A. E. Clark (chairman), I. Hintz, L, Blanchard, L. Falconer, G. Williams. J, James, F. Lees, S. J. Cook: social committee, Messrs G. Williams, J. Smith, P. Griffiths, K. Griffiths. A. Keith. T. Ockwell, L. Blanchard, N. Clarke. R. Woods. A. Gibbons; delegate to board of control, Mr Nuttall; delegate to schoolboys’ board: Mr I. Hintz.
