HATCH DOOR AND BOARD DISCOVERY AT SOUTHERN HAWKE’S BAY (New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, March 4. Fairly substantial pieces of wreckage found on a southern Hawke’s Bay beach, near Akitio, 19 miles from Pongaroa, may at last provide a clue to the fate of the yacht Argo which went missing during the centennial yacht race between Wellington and Lyttelton. The wreckage comprises a hatch door and a board believed to be from the rear portion of a dinghy The discovery was made by a woman visitor to the beach on Saturday. The Pongaroa police immediately took posWMfon of the wreckage, which was taken to Pahlatua, where arrangements have been made to have it examined by an expert from Wellington, who should be able to say whether it belonged to the Argo. NO DINGHY WITH YACHT ARGO (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 4. A member at the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club said this evening that the missing yacht Argo was not equipped with a. dinghy. The Wellington police have not yet received any information on the wreckage, found at southern Hawkes Bay, though for some time they have had to deal with similar reports.
