LEADING WINNERS AT ADDINGTON

WIDE DISTRIBUTION OF STAKES

Vedette and Gay Belwin, the winners of the pacers’ and trotters’ Grand Finals, headed the list of stake winners ovei the four days of the InterDominion Championships, concluded at Addington last Si/arday. Second in each of his. races on the first two days of the mee’ing, Vedette was a heat winner on the third day. His portion of the Grand Final £lO,OOO stake was £6600, including a cup of £lOO, and his four performances ’brought in £7650.

Similar performances among the trotters netted Gay Belwin £39/5, including a cup of £5O. Gay Belwin was beaten a head by Highland Kilt in his first appearance; on the second day he went under by half a head to Ripcord, but he proved a decisive winner in his third heat. Gay Belwin’s win in the Grand Final last Saturday was worth £2925.

The winner of two qualifying heats and second to Vedette in the Grand Final, Soangetaha was credited with £3300, of which total £2OOO resulted from his minor plac.ng, bringing him to third place among the stake earners. Single Direct, the IMS winner, gained £5O, the result of one fourth placing. Owners’ Stake* Their only representative at the meeting, Vedette brought Messrs C. Johtuton and M. Jenkins £7650 and placed them at the head of the owners’ winning list for the Inter-Dominion Championships. Mrs E. A. Berryman, owner of Gay Belwin, also her qnly representative te race over the fixture, was next with £3975. while Soangetaha gave Mrs M. A. Ryland the handsome return of £3900 for his two wins and one second placing. The consistent Parawa Derby won £lB5O for Mr L- T. Padget, and Swanee River credited Messrs L. M. and M. J. Chamfer and Te Maru, also trained by Holmes, both reached minor platings, and this stable’s total winnings were £8750. J. B. Pringle produced winners to Palava and Parawa Derby, and other trainers with two successes were B. Grice (Petro Star. Rivierk), G. B. Noble (Commander Scott, Highland Kfit), W. J.
