WELLINGTON, January 23.

Mr L. T. Jacobsen was chosen tonight by the Brooklyn electorate selection committee to contest the Brooklyn by-election on February 17, in the interests of the National Party. There were three other candidates. They were Mrs B. S. Burns, formerly of

Christchurch, who contested the seat at the General Election against Mr P. Fraser, Mr S. Frickleton, V.C., and Mrs E. Reenberg. Mr Jacobsen is a wholesaler and manufacturers’ representative and local body representative. He contested the Wellington East seat against Mr R. Semple at the General Election in 1943.
