PARLIAMENTARY DAY
(From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, November 9. Four bills were passed by the House of Representatives before it adjourned at 11.10 p.m. to-day. They were the Medical Practitioners’ Bill, the Transport AmendmSit Bill, the Machinery Bi . and the Boilers, Lifts, and Cranes BUI. Six bills were introduced in the afternoon and evening, the most important being the Nbxious Weeds Bill designed to improve and simplify the machinery for dealing with weed infestation. One of its main provisions is for the payment of subsidies for tree planting to restrict weed growth The Noxious Weeds Bill, the Death by Accidents Compensation Amendment Bill, and the Mental Defectives Amendment Bill were read a first time. The other three bills were read a second time pro forma and referred to Select Committees. The Stock Remedies Amendment Bill was referred to the Agricultural and PasA°L al Corr T‘ l l tc .S’ ,he Death Duties Amendment Bill was referred to the Statutes Revision Committee, and the Government Railways Amendment Bill to the Lands Committee, as one of its provisions is for land transfer certificates to be issued for railway land.
