The Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr C. M. Bowden) will visit Hanmer Springs on Monday to open the annual conference of the New Zealand Footwear Manufacturers’ Federation. He will leave for Christchurch this and travel to Hanmer Springs on Sunday. Mr Bowden will return to Wellington on Monday evening—(F.O.P.R.). Brigadier G. B. Parkinson, Commander of the Southern Military District, returned ten Christchurch yesterday from Blenheim, where he inspected secondary school cadet units.
Lieutenant-Colonel J. B. Harrison, military secretary at Army Headquarters. Wellington, will arrive in Christchurch to-morrow morning to interview candidates for Regular Force commissions.
Mr A. H. Bogle has been appointed a member of the Town Planning Board in place of Mr C. K. Grierson, who has resigned.—(P.A.)
Regret at the death of Mr James Knignt, of Feilding, a foundation member of the society, was expressed by the president (Mr H. J. Andrew) in his report to the annual meeting of the Southdown Sheep Society of New Zealand last evening.
