GRANT OF MUSICAL BURSARIES
COMMITTEE TO MEET NEXT WEEK
(From Our Parliamentary/ Reporter.) WELLINGTON. November 8. The selection committee which will recommend to the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr W. A. Bodkim suitable candidates lor musical bursaries which will be granted from art union profits, will holt! its first meeting in Wellington on November 17. Mr Bodkin, who announced the names of the committee this evening, said that there were a considerable number of applications for bursaries, but every one would receive full consideration. /
In the absence of the Secretary of the Department of Internal Affairs (Mr A. G. Harper), the Acting-Sec-retary (Mr G. O’Halloran) will be chairman of th* committee. The other members are Professor V. E. Galway, of Dunedin, organising professor of music in the University of New Zealand. “Mr Stanley Oliver, of Wellington, chairman at the Music Teachers’ Registration Board, and Mr Michael Bowles, conductor of the National Orchestra.
