THE MILK SUPPLY
Sir.—On reading the report of a conference held to consider ways and means of improving the city rpilk supply, one comes to the conclusion that the vendors, chairmen of the supply companies, and the milk bar proprietors had a real day out. I notice that they did not take kindly to the suggestion to pay a Higher price for quality milk and a loWer price lor sub-q(iality milk. The penalty for sub-quality milk has been in force ■for some time, as the producers are paid 6d a gallon for it by the supply companies. I think, in fairness to the producer, there should be an independent testing house for solids and butterfat tests, as it appears strange that milk should be below 3.20 one morning and 3.80 or more the next.—Yours, etc., FED UP PRODUCER No. 2. November 8. 1950.
