MR J. MORLING, S.M., TO RETIRE

TWELVE YEARS’ SERVICE AT AUCKLAND (New Zealand Association) AUCKLAND, November 7. Mr J. Morling, who has been a stipendiary Magistrate at Auckland since 1938, will retire at the end of this month. He will continue to live in Auckland. In his younger days Mr Morling played representative Rugby for Wel-

lington. He was also a keen yachtsman and golfer. In 1936 he was appointed Chief Judge in Samoa, where he spent nearly two years. He recalls a journey of three days by warship to hear n manslaughter trial at Danger Island. In 1938 he returned to New Zealand and took up his position on the Bench in Auckland.
