CENTENNIAL REGATTA AT LYTTELTON

FIREWORKS DISPLAY TO BE HELD AT NIGHT The Susan Leigh, owned by Mr D. McLeod, of Auckland, and the Barracuda, owned by Mr L. Griffin, of Taupo, will be competitors in the speedboat events at the Lyttelton centennial regatta, it was reported at a meeting of the regatta committee. Mr Griffin also advised the committee that he was building a new speedboat, in which a 750 horse-power RollsRoyce Kestrel engine would be installed, and he hoped to enter the new boat in the speed events. The committee is finding difficulty in arranging accommodation for all of the visiting yachtsmen and may have to appeal to residents to billet some of the yachtsmen.

A display of fireworks is to be made on regatta night and an application is to be made to the Lyttelton Harbour Board for the use of No. 1 shed in which to hold a dance.
