ATTITUDE OF TRADE UNIONS

(Rec. 11 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Sept. 7. Labour’s traditional opposition to compulsory military training will be given early consideration by the trade union mo’vement in Australia. To-day the Inter-State Executive of the Australian Council of Trade Unions decided that the circumstances were such that the six State Trades and Labour Councils should be given an opportunity of considering whether the trade union movement should adhere to the policy of opposition, or whether world events, particularly those in the East, warranted a review of this policy.
