NATIONAL PROVIDENT FUND

ANNUAL REPORT TABLED IN PARLIAMENT (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON. September 7. The accumulated funds of the National Provident Fund have reached £10,877,619. The annual income exceeds £1,000.000 and outgoings exceed £590 000. The annual report of the board controlling the fund, which was tabled in the House of Representatives to-day, says that in 39 years of operation it can claim progress unequalled by any other New Zealand institution. The fund gained 2881 new subscribers in 1949. The number of pensioners has increased from 935 in 1939 to 2316 in 1949.
