ENGLISH MISSION TO JUGOSLAVIA
MR ERNEST DAVIES RETURNS
(Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, August 30. The British Under-Secretary of Foreign Affairs (Mr Ernest Davies), who yesterday ended a 10-day visit to Jugoslavia, as the Government’s guest, with a three-hoUr talk with Marshal Tito and other Jugoslav leaders, said that Marshal Tito appeared confident about the future.
He seemed particularly confident of Jugoslavia’s ability to defend herself against any threats to her present independent line in international policy. Mr Davies previously visited Italy and Greece.
He said that the object of hig tour had been to establish closer contact with the various governments and to exchange views on current questions of mutual interest.
Mr Davies declined to give details of his talks wi£h Marshal Tito beybhd saying that sotne improvement in Jugoslavia’s relations with the West might be expected to result from them.
