LICENSING OF TRANSPORT

APPLICATIONS HEARD BY AUTHORITY

Two applications for new continuous goods-service licences, six applications for amendments to licences and one application for the transfer of a licence were granted by the Acting No. 3 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr W. G. Baird) yesterday. The authority refused an application by Lionel Strathmore Radford (Little River), for an amendment to a continuous goods-service licence to allow the carriage of general goods in the Akaroa County. H. S. Righton, Ltd., was refused an amendment to a continuous goods-service licence for the carriage of goods and the delivery of concrete blocks within a 50-mile radius of Christchurch, with an exemption from the 30-mile rail restriction. A. R. Guthrey and Company, Ltd., were refused an amendment to a licence for the carriage of new furniture. Decision was reserved on an application by Rutherford Miln (Wainui) for a new continuous goods-service licence for the carriage of mail from Barry’s Bay to Wainui and return. The applications granted for new continuous goods-service licences were made by Allister Douglas Monk (Islington) for the carriage of sawn timber, and by the Goodchild’ Drapery Company. Ltd., for the carriage of the applicant’s own drapery goods in the whole of the South Island, with exemption from the 30-mile rail restriction. The following were granted amendments to licences:—John Mair, for the carriage of logs from Wind whistle to Rolleston; Hector Matthew Jarden. for an additional vehicle authority; A. R. Guthrey and Company. Ltd., for house-to-house removals in the Christchurch exempted area; Ballins Breweries (N.Z.), Ltd., for the inclusion of the Christchuroh-Snringfield route on a ’icence; the Vacuum Oil Company, Pty., Ltd., for one additional vehicle authority between the Conway and Waitaki rivers, and for an alteration in the description of goods: and by Mac Wilson and Son. Ltd., for one additional vehicle authority. An application by C. G. Green, Ltd., for the transfer of a continuous goodsservice licence from ‘Cyril George Green, was granted.
