REMOVAL OF SALES TAX

Sir, —I wonder if the Prime Minister would tell us why he removed the sales tax from washing powders, sandsoap, caustic soda, blue, etc., yet left it on washing soaps and toilet soaps. Surely these are every-day essentials, and with soaps at their present high price, they can surely stand the removal of sales tax. —Yours, etc., WONDERING WHY. August 30, 1950.
