AUCKLAND RETAINS KEAN SHIELD TEAGLE SHIELD TO WELLINGTON The holder of the Kean Shield, th® Auckland team, yesterday retained it in the New Zealand inter-association table tennis tournament which is at present being held at the Wentworth. Wellington was second and Canterbury third. After matches between Otago and Wellington were 6-all and games 16-ali, Wellington won the Teagle Shield from the holder, Qtago, by 36 points. This was a very good win for the Wellington team, which was down 5-4 with three matches to play. Canterbury was placed third. Results of yesterday’s play were:— Kean Shield Fourth Round.—Wellington beat Bay of Plenty. 12-0; Auckland beat Manawatu. 11- Otago beat South Canterbury, 7-5; Canterbury beat Hutt Valley, 11-1. Fifth Round.— Manawatu beat Bay of Plenty by 6 points; Auckland beat Otago, 10-2; Wellington beat Canterbury, 8-4; Hutt Valley beat South Canterbury, 10-2. Sixth Round.—Auckland beat Wellington, 10-2; South Canterbury beat Bay of Plenty, 9-3; Hutt Valley beat Manawatu, 10-2; Canterbury beat Otago, 8-2. Teagle Shield Fourth Round.—Canterbury beat Hutt Valley, 7-5; Otago beat South Canterbury, 10-2; Auckland beat Wanganui, 11-1; Wellington had a bye. Fifth Round.—Otago beat Auckland. 12- Hutt Valley beat South Canterbury, 10-2; Wellington beat Canterbury, 10-2. Sixth Round.—South Canterbury beat Wanganui by 3 points; Canterbury beat Auckland, 10-2; Wellington beat Otago by 36 points.
