LINWOOD FOOTBALL CLUB
CENTENNIAL BALL AT THE WENTWORTH Novelties in the club’s colours of black and green were effective decorations used in the Wentworth, where members of the Linwood Rugby Football Club held their centennial ball last evenihg. The gathering, which was one of the club’s biggest social undertakings of ths year, attracted many guests, nearly all of whom received a small centennial gift in honour of the occasion. Guests who were specially invited to attend were the club president (Mr W. Cowles) and Mrs Cowles. M” O. Ha.tersley (who represented th? Canterbury Rugby Union), and Mrs Hatter?ley: Mr M. Roberts (who represented the Rugby Referees’ Association) and Mrs Roberts, the c’ub captain (Mr J. Storey) and Mrs Storey, and representatives from kindred clubs in the Christchurch area.
The committee responsible fo~ the success of the ball comprised Messrs W. Cowles, J. Storey, S. Barrett, H. Davis, D. Pugh, N. M. Gunderson, J. Lawlnr. H. McDonald. I. Mitchell, S. Fann : ng, and the secretary (Mr J. James).
