TRACK WORK AT ADDINGTON

CASACANDO IN FORM Casacando, which was driven by R. Young, who has been engaged to drive him in the Metropolitan Stakes on the second day of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s National meeting at Addington on Saturday, gave a bold display when he was worked over a mile and a half at Addington yesterday morning. Paced by Harvest Tide, Casacando covered the mile and a h«lf in 3min 21sec, the last four furion. ;s taking Imin ssec. Casacando was much too good for Harvest Tide over the last two furlongs, and he was not forced to do his best at the finish.

One of C. H. Fairman’s Halswell team, Casacando is favoured by the special conditions for tne Metropolitan Stakes in which he is on 24 yards. In an ordinary race, he would be giving away starts of up to 72 yards. A four-year-old son of Casanova and Canda Nell, Casacando, which was bought at a four-figure price early in his career by Mr H. Watson, showed good form last season to he placed in six of his II races, his record including an all-the-way win in the Riccarton Stakes at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s 1949 Cup meeting. a win over San Pietro in the first division of the Otorohanga Handicap at Te Awamutu on May 6; and a win over Farlena in the President’s Handicap at Geraldine on June 10. Fairman has' Casacando in particularly good order. He may pay a dividend in the Metropolitan Stakes. Victory Globe finished in front of Single Task and Morano at the end of two miles in 4min 48sec, the last half-mile taking Imin Bsec. The winner of two races in the early part of last season. Victory Globe will have his next race in the National Handicap at Addington on Satur-

Morano, which Is one of the favourites for the Metropolitan Stakes on Saturday, pleased by his effort. A stoutly-bred son of U. Scott and Coquette, Morano may win his way to good company this season. Sure Harvest, Gay Lyric, and Captain Gaillard worked over two miles' in 4min 46sec. A Promising Trotter

Sabre Dance, a winner at the Canterbury Owners’ and Breeders’ trials at Addington recently, trotted smoothly when she finished in front of Golden Prince and Blue Mist at the end of a mile and a half in 3min 37sec. Sabre Dance trotted the last four furlongs in Imin 7sec. County Antrim and Monty Jason were let off with a mile and a quarter in 2min 48see. A lazy track-worker, Monty Jason has moje ability than most in his class. Bonny Scott, which looks well, was not timed when she was worked alone.

Ripcord, the impressive winner of the Christchurch Handicap on Saturday, was given strong work by S. A. Edwards. The winner of seven races since the beginning of last season, Ripcord may add the Winter Handicap to his record on the second day of the National meeting. Hilda Scott, Lady Mavoumeen, and Gantree (free-legged) worked over two miles in smin 3sec, the last half-mile takImin 7sec.

Ivondale, which was recently put back into work by V. Alborn, broke with 100 yards to go when working over a mile and a quarter with Golden Game in 2min 55sec. A. winner at his first appearance last season for Mr B. Rushton, Ivondale is a 13-year-old son of Worthy Bond and a Sungod mare. Bessie Grattan, which was worked alone by G. Holmes, gave a solid display of trotting. Scott Junior, a maiiSen pacer from L. O. Thomas’s stable, was going easily as he paced the last half-mile of his trial in Imin 6sec. The first time he races up to the form he shows in training he should win a race.

R. A. Hamilton’s Springfield Globe gelding and Hilda Scott finished together at the end of a mile and a half in 3min 28sec, the last half-mile taking Imin Bsec. The trestles were out and all work was done about four sulky widths out from the rails. Showers during the morning made the track slow. » Out of a Winner
