ACTION IS POSSIBLE AGAINST M.P.’S STATEMENT BY MINISTER OF JUSTICE CAPE TOWN, August 8. “Steps will be taken shortly against those people sitting in the Union Parliament and in Provincial Councils who are Corrimunists.” the South African Minister of Justice (Mr Charles Swart) said in Odendaalsrust (the Orange Free State) to-day. He added: “I am now getting the necessary information. We are considering very seriously the matter of closing the Soviet Embassy in Pretoria.” Mr Swart said that two leading magistrates had “investigated the Communist menace.” and had submitted a confidential report to him. Major Farran Volunteers for Korean War.—Major Roy Farran. the British officer whom Jewish terrorists swore to kill, was one of the first in Britain to volunteer for service in Korea. Major Farran. who was an unsuccessful Conservative candidate in the last General Election, said to-day: “I can serve my country best in Korea.” — London, August 5.
