TRAP SHOOTING

ELLESMERE GUN CLUB’S MATCH Trap shooting competitors from many parts of New Zealand visited Leeston on Thursday to take part in a £l5O match, held by the Ellesmere Gun Club. There were 80 contestants. Although the weather was fine and mild, the light was difficult at times, and none of the shooters scored a possible. The principal event was a 21 yards match at 15 targets. C. Jones and E. Greene, each with 14 on, were the top scorers, and they shared first and second money, each receiving £67 10s. The following, each with 13 on, divided the rest of the stake, £45: D. S. Dorreen, D. P. North, W. L. Everest, H. C. Walker, G L Ball, S. Inwood, L. Leach, D. Mitchell and T. A. Nicholson.

For a similar match at six targets there were 75 competitors, and the following with possibles, divided the £57 stake: L Fenwick, C. C. Skinner. N. Inwood T. A. Everett, A. E. Brightling, and I. Winchester.

Messrs J. F. Parkin and L. J. Eden were the referees, Messrs L. A. Shand and L C. Lemon assisting.
