PROFIT OF £2032 FOR SEASON “The income and expenditure account discloses a profit of £2032 12s lid, says the president, Mr T. E. Johnston, in his report to be presented to members of the New Brighton Trotting Club at the annual meeting on July 12. “The totalisator investments for four days’ racing were £408,975, an average of £102,243 a day. Total stakes were £21,205, an average of £5301 a day. Unfortunately our autumn meeting had to be postponed to a week day on account of bad weather, otherwise the returns would have been still higher.” The main items oh the income and expenditure account are:—income: nominations, £1188; acceptances, £2959 ss; members’ subscriptions, £569 2s; totalisator receipts, £53.292 16s; gates, £4469 19s 6d; booths, £707 19s 6d; race cards, £2035 10s Id; interest. £196 9s 2d; refund totalisator tax, £5OO. Expenditure: stakes, £21.205; Government taxes, £21.046 15s 7d; salaries, £546 13s 8d: totalisator expenses, £5863 10s 9d; wages, £lB7B Is 8d; expenses race meetings, £2695 Is 8d; Trotting Conference levies. £729; insurance. £419 19s 8d; rates. £277 5s 2d; repairs and maintenance. £3377 4s sd; advertising, printing and stationery. £1790 14s 9d; donations. £270. The main items on the balance-sheet are:—assets: Bank of New Zealand (current account), £1846 16s 2d; investments. £9039 9s 7d: properties, £15.471 14s 2d; plant, £2280 4s 8d; unused totalisator tickets. £2148 3s lid. May Break Record M. Holmes, who equalled the late F. J. Smith’s record of 51 winning drives in one season when he drove Petro Star to win the Winchester Handicap at Washdyke last Saturday, may break the record at the Geraldine Racing Club’s meeting to-day where he will drive Jacare, which is engaged in both trotting events. Related to Real Scott Young Tony, which has been beaten out of a place after showing much speed in the early part of his two races this season, may add interest to the Domain Handicap at the Geraldine Racing Club’s meeting at Orari to-day. A three-yaer-old gelding. Young Tony is by U Scott from Real Burton, which left Real Scott, the winner of 10 races this season, to Noble Scott, a son of U Scott. Likely Favourite King Oliver is the likely favourite for the Second Improvers’ Handicap at the Waikato Trotting Club’s meeting to-dav. A four-year-old Josedale Grattan horse. King Oliver, which is trained at Te Rapa by M. Stewart, has started in four races this season for a win and three minor placings. At Greymouth J. Davidson, who trained a team in Canterbury for many years, is now educating a nicely-moulded three-year-old son of Springfield Globe and Noeline de Oro at Greymouth. The youngster, which will be used at the stud this season, is bred to win in the best classes. His dam, Noeline de Oro, is by Rey de Oro from Becky Logan (2min 46 2-ssec), which also left Golden Direct (3min 20 2- Graham Direct (4min 19sec). and Becky Graham to the same sire. Becky Direct (2min 50 l-ssec) and Margaret Worthy, to Frank Worthy, Taiki (2min 51 3- and Becky Loyal (2min 14 2-ssec) to Grattan Loyal. Bred by the late J. B. Westerman, Becky Logan is by Logan Pointer from Miss Becky, by Electioneer from Becky, by Vanderbilt from Lady Grey, by Berlin Abdallah. Omitted Banquet Hall was omitted from the Winchester Trot Handicap in the telegraphed acceptances for the Geraldine Racing Club’s meeting to-day. A six-year-old mare. Banquet Hall, which is trained at Washdyke by W Kitto, gained her first win for the season when she beat Lucky Wrack in the first division of the Oamaru Trot Handicap at the Oamaru Jockey Club’s meeting on December 31. Since then she has added two seconds to her record. Freshened Up Walnut Hall, which was given a spell after joining F. E. Upton’s team at Belfast, has freshened up, and he is in splendid order to commence his preparation for the National meeting at Addington next month. A six-year-old son of Dillon Hall and Play Voyage, Walnut Hall showed good form when trained at Wyndham earlier in the season by S. W. Kirby to gain three wins and a third in nine starts. Finished On After beginning slowly, Willie Roger finished on well in third place in the second division of the Beerescourt Handicap on the first day of the Waikato Trotting Club’s meeting last Saturday. If L. J. Kite can persuade him to becin quickly, Willie Roger may leave the maiden class with a win in the first division of the Victoria Handicap on the concluding day of the meeting to-day.
