NATIONAL AIRWAYS’ YEAR

MORE PASSENGERS AND FREIGHT FLOWN (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 31. During the year ended March 31 204.707 passengers were carried on the National Airways Corporation’s internal services. This was an increase of 17 per cent., compared with the previous year, said the Minister in charge of Civil Aviation (Mr W. S Goosman) to-day. Freight had increased by 28 per cent, on the 1949 figure, a total of 10.948 tons having been transported during the year. Of this amount :728 tons were carried on the railair freight service operating between Paraparaumu and Blenheim and Par.aparaumu and Christchurch. The estimated mileage flown during ths year was 4,996.535 miles, an increase of about 16 per cent, on last, year’s total, said the Minister.
