NEW CARGO SERVICE FROM LYTTELTON

A new regular cargo service operating between the ports of Lyttelton, Tauranga and Whangarei will be instituted by the Northern Steamship Company, Auckland, on June 20 when the Apanui will begin loading at Lyttelton. The company will operate the Apanui on the service until its new 800-ton ship, recently purchased in England, arrives.

General cargo will be carried on the run, and it is possible that fruit importers in Christchurch will have their shipments speeded up. The regularity of the service will be determined largely by the response from importers and shippers, and the speed with which the vessel is worked.
