NAVAL PRIZE MONEY
£40,000 AWAITING DISTRIBUTION CLAIMS TO BE LODGED IN TWO DAYS ' (New Zealand. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 29. Men who served with the Royal Navy during the Second World War have only two days left in which to apply for any prize money that may be due. One month ago nearly £40.000 was awaiting distribution in London among about 75.000 persons. If st 11 unclaimed by Wednesday, this sum will be devoted to charities. During the last few weeks the authorities in New Zealand have received a flood of applications for the prize money, as manj/ as 40 being received each day. Not all were entitled to a claim, however, as some applications came from merchant seamen. who cannot claim a reward unless they served with the Royal Navy. The Admiralty has agreed that any claims lodged with the Naval Liaison Officer. United Kingdom Service Liaison Staff, care of the United Kingdom High Commissioner. Wellington. byMay 31, will be investigated.
