EIGHTY THREE YEARS OLD CELEBRATIONS IN LONDON (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON. May 26 Thousands of telegrams from New Zealand. Australia and other Commonwealth countries poured into Marlborough House to-day with greetings to Queen Mary, who was 83 today. Flags flew over buildings in London and throughout Britain, and the Royal Navy dressed all ships. In London. Royal salutes were fired at noon at Hyde Park and at the Tower. One hour later, Queen Mary drove to Buckingham Palace for a birthday luncheon given in her honour by Their Majesties the King and Queen. Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret were present and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Princess Royal were among the 30 guests.

MESSAGE SENT FROM NEW ZEALAND

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) ■ WELLINGTON. May 26. The Governor-General (Sir Bernard Frcyberg, V.C.) sent the following message to Queen Mary on the occasion of Her Majesty’s birthday: “The Government and peoples of New Zealand, its island territories and Western Samoa, join with me in tendering Your Majesty respectful congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of Your Majesty's birthday.”
