SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CONCERT

Sir.—Several display advertisements of to-night’s concert by the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra have appeared in “The Press.” May I ask why no mention is made of the numbers to be played, or even who is to conduct the orchestra? After'all. intending patrons do not like to be kept in the dark as to the content of the programme, and this in turn docs not make for the support of the public. I feel that such advertising will not improve the orchestra's popularity; and, indeed, it deserves it.—Yours, etc.. ESSEX. May 24, 1950. [“The matter was an oversight and it will not happen again.” said Mr T. Kirk-Burnnand. conductor of the orchestra on Wednesday night.]
