COST TO HOSPITAL BOARD

Although the cost for each inmate of the Tuarangi and Jubilee Homes exceeds £4 a week the North Canterbury Hospital Board, which controls the two institutions, is allowed to charge a maximum of £2 2s a week in the few instances where inmates have private means and are able to contribute towards the cost of their keep. The board yesterday adopted a recommendation of its finance committee that a revision of the existing rate should be sought.
