FOURTH BRIGADE IN FORM

LIKELY WINNER AT ADDINGTON Messrs A. Pirie’s and W. T. Lowe’s attractive three-year-old colt, Fourth Brigade, will probably be sent out favourite ' for the Addington Handicap, the first race at th-e Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting at Addington on Saturday. A beautifully-moulded horse, Fourth Brigade gained his first placing when he gave a solid performance to finish second to Highland Kilt in 3min 24sec in the New Zealand Trotting Stakes at the Easter meeting at Addington. Fourth Brigade confirmed the good impression he created at Addington by winning the Lyndhurst Trot Handicap at Methven from Rear Light, which has since won three races. Taken to the Wellington Trotting Club’s autumn meeting, Fourth Brigade was unable to show his best form on the first day as he did not travel well, and he was beaten by Encircle and Sure Jinks in the Miramar Handicap. On the second day of the meeting. Fourth Brigade was seen at his best when he fought on gamely , under pressure to beat Sure Jinks by half a length in the Suburban Handicap. On breeding. Fourth Brigade should eventually prove capable of winning in the best classes. By Light Brigade, he is out of Fantine, both of which were imported from America. A Guy Abbey mare. In an interesting finish, Peter’s Pal did well to win by half a length. If he races up to that form, Peter's Pal should be hard n beat from the 12 yards’ mark in the Urda’- 161 ' 6 Handicap at Addington on SatRaring at Otaki who trained her a Jr X C I lvc , rl, 'i’oit.v. pleased by her
