PROBLEMS OF THE PACIFIC

ASSOCIATION PREPARES FOR CONFERENCE The national executive of the PanPacific Woman’s Association is already working on its plans for the conference to be held in Christchurch in January, 1952. This will be the first international women’s conference to

fie held in New Zealand. Several of its members have been touring the Dominion, and have found widespread interest in Pacific affairs. Miss Mary Seaton, of Wellington, the International Programme chairman. has been present at five very important Pacific conferences—the first in 1928 in Honolulu, and the last 21 years later, again in Honolulu. Recently, Miss Seaton toured part of the North Island and addressed several meetings, which the local branches of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers, the Women’s Institute, and the Business and Professional Women’s Clubs helped to organise. She found her audiences enthusiastic in their desire to study Pacific questions. Miss Seaton is president of the New Zealand Women Writers’ and Artists’ Society, and an executive member of the United Nations’ Association, and the Institute of International Affairs, Wellington.
