MEAT AND WOOL POOLS

Sir, —While Mr Nash deals at length with Mr Warren’s scathing criticism of the results obtained by our Meat Board and Mr Nash, perhaps he would explain why his Government and the Wool Board compelled NevV Zealand shepfarmers to pay £7 10s for a service costing Australian sheepfarmers 2s 6d. and why the Australian has received J.O. profits and what he subscribed, while here farmers continue to pay £2 10s per cent, on total sales and are granted no individual rights. What does the farmer who lias earned a share of that money, but is compelled to sell out because of accident, age, or illness, get out of the pools? Unless history doesn’t repeat itself this time, wool will sell in two -years’ time for a fraction of present value. What precisely may subscribing farmers expect out of the pools then?—Yours, etc., H. J. BUTTLE. Darfield, May 22, 1950.
