HANMER SPRINGS LADIES’ BATHING POOL

Sir,—l wish to draw the attention of the Hanmer Springs Progress League and the Amuri County Council, to the inadequacy of the Hanmer Springs ladies’ bathing pool to meet present requirements. As this is centennial year, surely a pool similar to the men’s pool could be constructed before the influx of visitors later this year. I suggest that money be borrowed and a public subscription started, to which I will contribute £l, and that all swimming tickets be increased by Gd till the bath is paid for. It is over 20 years since my first swim in the men’s pool, and it looks good for another 50 years. What about the ladies’ pool for the next 50 years? My wife and girl have ruled Hanmer out of our week-end jaunts on that account.—Yours, etc., G. NELL. May 5. 1950. [“The hot pools in Hanmer Springs are- controlled by the Health Department,” said the chairman of the Hanmer Springs Progress League (Mr A. Read). “The Amuri County Council and the local Progress I eague have absolutely no say in their control. The league has for years advocated that the bathing pools be brought up to date on the lines of the pools at Rotorua,” added Mr Read.]
