MR MENZIES COMMENTS ON BILL

(Rcc. 10 p.m.) SYDNEY. May 22, Speaking at a civic reception in Sydney to-day. the Federal Prime Minister (Mr Menzies) said that the united political front in the Federal Parliament < n the Communist Party Dissolution Bill was in strong contrast to that which the Communist Party was trying to organise in the trade union movement against the legislation.

The decision of the House of Representatives. without a division, to pass the clause abolishing the (Communist Party was a great expression of the unanimity of thought of the Australian peoj.de. It was a recognition that the Communist Party was a common danger to Australia.

Referring to the onus of proof clause. Mr Menzies said that, where there was an unresolved doubt as the result of a Court action after the declaration of a person as a Communist, that doubt would be weighed in favour of the Commonwealth, "for a very gcod reason—the safety of Australia. ’’
