PROBABLE BEGINNING BEFORE 1951 LORD MACDONALD TO VISIT N.Z. (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 9 p.m.) CANBERRA, May 22. In an interview to-day. Lord Macdonald. who led the United Kingdom delegation to the Commonwealth conference in Sydney, said that the Commonwealth plan lor aiding South-east Asia should be well under way before the end of this year. The date when practical aid would begin would depend on the speed with which the various countries seeking it submitted their requirements. Lord Macdonald added that he had jno doubt that Russia was already giving economic aid to the Asian countries Where Communist influence was strongest. Lord Macdonald will leave for New Zealand on Thursday for talks with the New Zealand Prime Minister (Mr Holland) and will return to the United Kingdom by way of the United States.
