WORLD CONFERENCE OF FARMERS

TWO DELEGATES FROM NEW ZEALAND (Special Correspondent N Z.P.A.) (Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON. May 22. Messrs W. N. Perry and S. D. Reeves, who will represent New Zealand Federated Farmers at the fourth annual conference of the International Federation of Agricultural Producers, which opens at Saltsjobaden, near Stockholm, on May 29. left London this -week-end for Stockholm. Delegates to the conference will tour agricultural and industrial areas in Sweden before their meetings. This year’s conference has a heavy agenda. Among the items are applications for membership of the federation by farm organisations in Greece, Italy, Mexico, and Japan, consideration of further measures to protect agricultural producers against international monopolies, the operation of the International Wheat Agreement, and the work of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations in dealing with commodity problems. The British delegation which represents the National Farmers’ Union of England and Wales, Scotland and Ulster will be headed by Sir James Turner, president of the National Farmers’ Union of England and Wales.
