HEALTH STAMP FOR N.Z.

INTEREST REPORTED IN BRITAIN (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON. May 22. Tremendous interest is being taken in Britain in the New Zealand health stamp showing Prince Charles sitting i on Princess Elizabeth’s lap. A number ! of national newspapers published ■ photographs of it, and the “Yorksh re j Post’’ reproduced it on its front page in a double column. The purpose of the health stamp, was explained by various newspapers. An official of the Royal Philatelic i Society said: “Prince Charles is prob- | ably the youngest Royal baby ever to j appear on a stamp. These stamps might be valuable from a collector’s viewpoint in a few years’ time, but the price will not go sky-high, as a large number will be printed.” An official at Buckingham Palace , said he had not heard of the report. I published in New Zealand, that Prin- ‘ cess Elizabeth was so pleased with the I stamp that she had suggested io His | Majesty the King that a similar one j should be used on the occasion of the Festival of Britain. It was also stated in the New Zealand report that the King was likely to put this suggestion before the Privy Council with his official blessing. “It may be that the Princess has made the suggestion, but we have heard nothing about it.” said the pa’ace official. “It is nonsense to say that the King is likely io put the suggestion before the Privy Council. \That is not necessary.”
