SHIP COLLISION AT WELLINGTON

FORMAL INQUIRY TO BE HELD (New Zealand. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 22. The preliminary inquiry into the collision between the Taranaki and ‘the Waipiata in Wellington harbour on the night of May 5 clearly revealed that a formal investigation was desirable. said the Minister of Tvlarine (Mr W. S. Goosman) to-day. He had accordingly approved the holding of a formal investigation before a magistrate and two assessors, said the Minister. The assessors would be Captain Neville Riley, master of the motorvessel Melbourne Star, and Captain John Ferdinand Holm, a foreigngoing master, of Wellington. The name of the presiding magistrate and the date and place for holding the inquiry had still to be decided.
