REAL SCOTT’S FINE RECORD Real Scott, which won the Adams Memorial Handicap on the first day of the Auckland Trotting Club’s winter meeting, won the C. F. Mark Memorial Handicap , and the Farewell Handicap on the con-1 eluding day of the meeting on Saturday in a manner which Indicated that he was a class above his opponents. Real Scott is one of the finds of the season. Since leaving the maiden class with a win over Flight Commander in the Westward Ho Handicap at the Methven Trotting Club’s meeting on October 1J he has gone from success to success. In. eight months he has won £6102 10s for. 10 wins, a second, and a third in 14 starts, i Now assessed on 4min 24sec for two miles,; Real Scott should have little difficulty m qualifying to ’race in this year’s New Zealand Trotting Cup. Real Scott took the lead with about a mile to go in the C. F. Mark Memorial Handicap, in which he gave away starts of up to 36 yards, and he was much too good for the opposition over the concluding stages, winning without being extended by two and a half lengths from Parawa Derby, which finished on much better than on the first day. The win favourite, First Lord, which lost a good position with half a mile to go, was threequarters of a length behind Parawa Derby. Chedworth Hall finished fourth and then came Starshell, Positive, and Mobile Globe. Mobile Glove, the favourite on the place totalisator, made his task too hard when he broke at the start. Real Scott completed a treble for the meeting when, after losing ground at the start, he finished strongly to win the Farewell Handicap by two lengths from First Lord, which was well placed all the way. Mobile Globe finished a head behind First Lord, and then came Vedette, which had every chance. Parawa Derby was close up in fifth place with Positive and Battle On the most pi eminent of the others. Real Scott, which travelled wide out for most of the way, trailed First Lord and Vedette into the straight. When N. L. Berkett let him stretch out, Real Scott soon settled the issue, winning decisively.

A High-class Three-year-old. Sent our first favourite, Laureldale, which won the Marconi Stakes on the first day of the meeting, proved himself to be one of the best three-year-olds seen out this season when he beat a field of older horses in the Suburban Handicap. After being near the rear of the field in the early stages, Laureldale sustained a strong finishing run over the last halfmile to win by a head from Admiral Peterson. Indian Game, which broke at the entrance to the straight, settled down quickly to get third a length and a half away. Master Dorset finished fourth, and then came Indian Triunwh, Flying Smith, and Foreign Lady. The last named broke in the early stages. Laureldale and his driver, W. Willetts, received a well-de-served ovation when they returned to the bird-cage. Began Slowly After beginning slowly, Hilda Scott gave a fine performance to win the May Handicap by a length from Soangetaha, which broke at the start and was seriously checked in the running by a breaking horse. In the circumstances Soangetaha did really well for a three-year-old in heavy going to finish second. Mighty Song was third, with Uranium, Fontaine, Hey Dey, and Old Scotch next.

Liverpool Handicap a L - Berkett’s bracket, Uranium and Artless, finished first and second in tlie Liverpool Handicap, with Calando seven lengths away in third place. Fontaine finished fourth, and Tidy Lady, which was always well placed, fifth. Sandy Ridge, which was 2-1 in the betting, was well placed early, but he lost his chance when he broke with five fur-1 longs to go. A Popular Win Patiently driven by W.
