REFEREES APPOINTED BRITISH TEAM’S MATCHES (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 22. The appointment of referees for the British Isles Rugby team’s three matches in the South Island after the first test next Saturday were announced to-day by Mr A. E. Neilson, secretary of the New Zealand Rugby Union. The appointments are:—British Isles v. South Canterbury, .at Timaru, on May 31, Mr W. Fright (Canterbury); British Isles v. Canterbury, at Christchurch, on June 3, Mr T. Wallace (Taranaki); British Isles v. Ashburton-North Otago, at Ashburton, on June 6, Mr S. Sharp (Southland).
