RIFLE SHOTS FIRED
INCIDENT AT WEDDING PARTY POLICE MAKE ARREST (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. May 21. Rifle shots fired outside the hall brought to a sudden end the gaiety of a Te Awamutu wedding party on Saturday night. The first bullet went into the hall, several of the 60 guests being struck bv splinters, and soon after the dancers heard another foutshots fired outside. None entered the hall. The party was held after a wedding at the Te Awamutu Roman Catholic Church and a reception at a tearooms. It was being held at the Oddfellows Hall. Several men left the hall after the first shot to search for the shooter, but stopped when other shots were fired outside. Police inquiries resulted in the arrest to-day of a man who will be charged in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court to-morrow with the theft of a rifle.
