PROVINCIAL FIRE BRIGADES
ANNUAL MEETING AT TEMUKA
With the advent of the Fire Services’ Act all brigades should receive much benefit, said the annual report presented to the thirty-fourth annual meeting of the Canterbury Provincial Fire Brigade Association at Temuka. The membership of the association still consisted of 17 brigades, but negotiations were being made for other brigades to join the association. The full co-operation of the association was offered to the Christchurch Fire Brigade for the United Fire Brigade Association conference and championships at Christchurch next February dur’ng the centennial celebrations. More than 40 delegates attended the meeting. They were welcomed by the Mayor of Temuka (Mr G. A. Harris). Superintendenf C. C. Knight, of the Geraldine Brigade, said Geraldine members were keen to hold the next demonstration at Geraldine. The backing of the community was expected. The matter was left to the incoming committee.
It was decided to hold the next annual meeting at Lyttelton. Officers elected were:—immediate nast president, Deouty-Superintendent R. R. Kerr, Ashburton; president, Deputy-Superintendent K. N. Jones, Leeston: senior vice-nresident. DeputySuperintendent G. W. Moulton; junior vice-president. Fireman Q. Thompson; brigade representatives. Driver F. Rouse. Foreman S. E. Carson, Superintendent R. W. McMillan, and Fireman J. C. Jones: honorary auditor, Mr R. B. Hean, Riccarton; trustees, Captain W. N. Stokes. New Brighton. Lieutenant I. G. Peters, New Brighton.
