REFUSAL OF BASES TO U.S. AND BRITAIN
STATEMENT BY EIRE’S DEFENCE MINISTER
(Rec. 7 p.m.) DUBLIN, April 19. Eire would’ never provide bases for such Powers as Britain ancj the United States, said the Minister of Defence (Dr. T. F. O’Higgins), when he presented the Army Estimates in the Dail. Dr. O’Higgins said that Eire did not belong to either bf the two great world groups, and now found it very difficult to secure arms, for she did not produce “as much as a pop-gun herself.”
