MR AURIOL IN LONDON
KING HONOURED AT DINNER
(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, March 8. Cheering, waving ctoWds to-night halted a car carrying Their Majesties the King and Queen to a dinner given at the French Embassy by the President of France (Mr Vincent Auriol). The entrance to Kensington Palate Gardens, where the Embassy is situated, had been closed, but people stood five deep around it to catch a glimpse of the guests as they entered the gardens.
When Mr Auriol arrived just before Their Majesties, the crowd dashed across the road, and the car had to pass through a narrow lane of cheering people. Later the' crush was so great that Their Majesties’ car was brought to a standstill. Other guests at the dinner included Princess Elizabeth, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and the Duchess of Kent.
