TUESDAY (Before Mr Rex C. Abernethy, S.M.) OBSCENE LANGUAGE On a charge of using obscene language in a public place, Joh*n Vance, aged 61, a retired postman, pleaded guilty and was fined £5. TRAFFIC BREACHES Prosecutions for traffic offences, brought by the Transport Department, were tiealt with as follows: — Exceeding speed limit.—Herbert Harry Franklin, 30s; Raymond Arnold White, £3; Harvey Hammersley, £4 (no warrant of fitness. 10s). Defective brakes: Raymond William Richards, 30s (no warrant of fitness, 15s). No light on cycle: John Steven McKegney. 20s (no brake, ss). No warrant of fitness: Robert George Beattie, 30s (no heavy traffic licence, £2); Raymond Sinclair Shearer, costs only; Laurence Charles Duffy, 15s (failing to produce driver’s licence, 10s). Parking offence: Frank Leonard Anderson, 15s. JUDGMENT BY DEFAULT Judgment by default was given for the Commissioner of Taxes for £5l 2s lOd in a claim against Jean Searle for that amount.
