REPORT DENIED BY MR HOLLAND

ALLEGED DISMISSALS IN ECONOMY CAMPAIGN (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, February 7. “Merely a figment of the imagination,” said the Prime Minister (Mr Holland) to-day, referring to a report in the London Labour paper, the “Daily Herald” from its Wellington correspondent that employees of the Land and Income Tax Department had been dismissed in a Government economy campaign. Mr Holland described the report as “designed chiefly to use New Zealand influence in the elections overseas.” “I purposely kept from expressing any views about politics in Britain, which I think is proper,” he said. “I think it would be wise for any newspaper overseas to stick to facts associated with New Zealand’s political situation. This has not been done in this case.”
