ARMITT (N.Z.) IN FINAL (New Zeaiana Press Association) AUCKLAND. February 6. Two Australians. Garrard (lightweight) and Little (welter-weight), have won both their Empire Games contests by falls and are the only contestants with no bad points against them. Garrard was Empire champion in both 193' and 1938. Armitt (New Zealand) won both his featherweight bouts on unanimous decisions. and thus has only two bad points against him. He will meet Milord (Canada) in the final. O’Connor (New Zealand), who sensationally lost his bout on the first evening by a fall in 16 seconds, this evening gained an equally spectacular success by a prompt fall in his heavyweight contest with Ovendon (Canada). It was a fall about which there could be no mistake. O’Connor bundling his opponent into a neat parcel. Hobson (N.Z.) was eliminated from the light-weight, but because there were only two contestants left there was a weighing in. As a result of this Hobson, the lighter of the two men eliminated with five b?d points, was awarded third place. Results: — FEATHER-WEIGHT Milford (Can.) beat Parsons (Eng.) on points, a majority decision. Armitt (N.Z.) beat Hayman (Aust.) on points, a unanimous decision. These results eliminate Hayman wiin six bad points and Parsons five baa points. LIGHT-WEIGHT Plumb (Can.) beat Hobson (N.Z.) on points, a unanimous decision. Garrard (Aust.) beat Ickringill (Eng > by a fall. These results eliminate Ickringill and Hobson, each with five bad points. WELTER-WEIGHT * Little (Aust.) beat Henry (Scot.) by a Hudson (Can.) beat Monaghan (N.Z.) by a fall. Monaghan was eliminated. MIDDLE-WEIGHT Arthur (Aust.) beat Reitz (SA.) on points, a unanimous decision. Fletcher (NJZ.) beat Bowey (Eng.) i points, a unanimous decision. Bowey was eliminated. LIGHT HEAVY-WEIGHT Sneddon (N.Z.) beat Trevaskis (Aust.) on points, a majority decision. HEAVY-WEIGHT O'Connor (N.Z.) beat Ovendon (Can.), by a fall. Armstrong (Aust.) beat Richmond (Eng.) on points, a unanimous decision. Ovendon was eliminated.
