FEW BUILDING SECTIONS
STATEMENT BY MR GOOSMAN CHRISTCHURCH DEMAND Prom Our Own Reporter . WELLINGTON, February 6. Christchurch persons who expect building sections owned by the State to be readily available for private purchase will be disappointed. The Minister of Works (Mr W. S. Goosman) answered an inquipr by “The Press” to-day by saying that there were few sections available for which title could be given. “Apart from what is required for immediate building, the Crown holds enough land to provide 533 sections, of which 253 are being developed, but their development is being restricted by the lack of drainage and the inevitable delay in electrical reticulation,” Mr Goosman said. Sewer drainage was lacking in practically all the undeveloped areas in Christchurch and a major extension, of electrical reticulation must take time. “There is a great demand for sections but for these reasons it is obvious that the number that could be' made available either by the Government or by private subdividers of land for sale at the present time is very limited.”
