TWO RANGIORA MEETINGS THIS SEASON
A meeting of the executive of the combined Rangiora and Cheviot Trotting Clubs was held at Cheviot recently. Mr C. M. Archer, of Rangiora, presided. As the Rangiora club has been granted one of the new permits, the combined clubs will now have two days’ racing each year.
Arrangements were made for meetings this year to be held at Rangiora on the North Canterbury Racing Club’s course on February 25 and March 18. The main race will be the Rangiora Cup, for a stake of £475 and a trophy valued at £25. Provision was also made for a doubles totalisator to be in operation at the meetings. Won at Nelson
Winston Hall, the winner of the Waimea Handicap on the second day of the Nelson Trotting Club’s meeting on February 1, is trained at Templeton by J. B. Pringle for Mr E. Sheed.
A six-year-old gelding, Winston Hall is by Dillon Hall from Lady’s Chain, which is also the dam of Bondsman, Flying Peggy, Jewel Box, Sydney Bank, and
A Cathedral Chimes mare, Lady’s Chain is out of Lovematch, which left a family of winners including Gold Bank, Bankstock, Bank Again, and Money Mate. Pringle was also successful at the meeting with Modem Star, which he trains for Mr R. Lewis. A four-year-old mare. Modern Star is by Josedale Grattan from Modem Lady, which took a record of 3min 28 2-ssec at the pacing gait. By worthy Bond, Modem Lady is out of Florrie Bingen, by Nelson Bingen from a Harold Dillon mare, which was out of the imported Solon Gazelle. By King Cobra Mr T. Fairbairn recently sold a three months old colt by King Cobra from Trixie Bingen to Mr J. Geddes for £lOO. .Great Bingen, Trixie Bingen is out of Logan Lily. Encouraging A colt by Jack Potts from Jill Tar gave ®n encouraging display to finish second m Little Slam in the first division of the ‘■nin 59sec class pace at the trials at Addington last Thursday.
